Ertl the best die-cast producer for film and tv series model cars in the 1980's, i am sure there are a lot of blokes in there late thirties early 40's who owned maybe a massive dukes of hazard or kitt from knight rider hard tin toy car that you could even put your star wars figures in....and if you did not have one of them i am sure you must of had the metal Thomas the tan engine toys unless really posh and your parents bought ou Brio wooden Thomas tank toys,

Ertl seemed to get all the great contracts for toys such as Thomas the tank, The A-team Knight rider, Airwolf for people who remember the helicopter based 80's tv show basically knight rider as a helicopter amongst many others Ertl were just awesome and they made children's diecast models for various cartoons ,

Ertl now under there RC2 brand still make the classic Tv film related models but a lot more detailed and normal 1;18 Scale not the huge must of been 1:14 scale tin ones that were near unbreakable Modern Ertl models are great quality

and worth collecting especially there tv related models but buy them fast as there getting pretty expensive to get on the second hand collectors market.
