1980's vintage masters of the universe action figures for sale

Mattel's Masters of the universe was a major toy line and i'm guessing a nightmare with many a school teacher with children fighting whilst chanting "I have the power".. or maybe that was just me!

1980 Roger sweet came up with a idea of mass marketing a action figure and put his ideas across to Mattel after they unknowingly to there error rejected a proposal from a mr George Lucas to make action figures for a science fiction trilogy ..oops ( "star wars")
But i think most company's rejected star wars , but good came out of this as if Mattel had taken on star wars i guess we would never had got he-man, and Keener would not have been such a cool toy company like it was the the 1980's 1990's.
1981 was the year it all started to happen when Mattel employed a free lance author to write four mini comics , on Google in you ask who invented masters of the universe it says Mattel well that's not entirely true.

Mattel owned the rights and from three ideas that were presented to the board choose a theme based on a muscle bound character  and then hired Donald Glut who wrote the first four comics ,, so to say one person was responsible is a little fair pretty sure it was a joint effort from a few heads and from what i understand some ideas from Conan the barbarian which is obvious seeing Mattel hired two of Conan's writers  that ended up with a lawsuit that Mattel won.

The Action figure line lasted several years from 1982 to 1987 with a wide variety i figures , first in 1982 there were just 8 figures to collect i was lucky enough to sell a full set of these mint on card called 8 backs as rear of cards only showed eight characters these are the rarest of the cards to find,
the rarest figures to get are laser light 1987 ones and the Tytus and Megator giants as only had limited release in Europe nearly all examples were sold in Italy ,

There are some rare variants that were released in other countries such as the Mexican black Grizzlor that is worth a small fortune but beware of fakes !! if you see one it may be to good to be true same,

i was a huge masters of the universe collector and i enjoyed collecting not just every figure but different country stamps that have slight differences paint maybe darker, or some countries had thicker face colouring to head,
variations like this are not mentioned much but i owned at least 5 different Tri-klops one i remember had green sword another green and black sword , then another had darker arm colouration that usual another had unpainted detailing , so there are slight inconstancy's from country stamps just something i thought i would mention as i was a geek collector. are based in Birmingham in the United Kingdom
